ARSA Militants Abduct Three Local Muslims in Maungdaw’s Kyauk Chaung Village

Three local Muslims abducted by ARSA in Maungdaw Township

On the night of May 5, 2025, around 10:30 PM, approximately 15 armed ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) militants abducted three Muslim men—Mamat Ayyub (42), Eliyas (26), and Goffur Alam (47)—from Kyauk Chaung Village in Maungdaw Township, near the Rakhine-Bangladesh border. All three victims are residents of the village and were taken from their homes by force.

Family members confirmed the abduction, stating that the attackers were heavily armed. This incident follows a pattern of escalating violence by ARSA in the region, including a March 29 case where four ethnic Khami civilians were abducted and killed in Myawady Village.

Local sources report that ARSA routinely infiltrates villages in Maungdaw Township, engaging in abductions, killings, assaults, and extortion, contributing to growing insecurity among residents.
